-
A mehndi event is a vibrant celebration with music, food, and dancing. Other highlights include celebratory entrances, family performances like choreographed dances and singing, and a festive, social atmosphere that brings families and friends together.
-
A mehndi kicks off with family entrances which will typically feature the women of both the bride and groom entering with plates and candles. They will use these to do a dance called ‘luddi’, as per Punjabi tradition.
Mehndi’s feature rasms (traditions) such as ‘mithai ki rasam’ (‘dessert tradition’), where the couple will be fed sweets and fruits by family and friends.
Choreographed dances by the family and men will take place towards the end of the evening, followed by the men leaving the room for the ladies to have their own privacy and do their own dances.
How to Get Here
Please note that this venue is not the most public transport-friendly and we would personally recommend cars where possible, especially as the event is on the 25th which is Christmas Day so there will hardly any car traffic and due to which there may be delays or closures with public transport.
Parking (If Driving)
Parking is available at The Mall West Car Park on Level 5, accessed via Caxton Road, N22 6TB. Parking is available until midnight on the event day. Pedestrian access for car collection is located on the High Road, N22 6YQ, opposite Argos.
Guests parking at The Mall West Car Park are required to enter their license plate details on the tablet provided in the Foyer at The Decorium.
We advise all guests to ensure they collect their cars before the deadline to avoid extra charges.
Please plan your visit carefully, allowing ample time to return to the car park and collect your vehicle. Kindly be aware that The Mall West Car Park is independently managed and not under the management of The Decorium. Failure to adhere to instructions may lead to fines issued by the mall.
Kindly review the venue’s parking information page on their website for your ease.
Taxi
Taxi recommendations include: Bolt, FreeNow, and Uber. It’s a good idea to download the apps to receive in-app or first-time user discounts, and to also compare fare price and driver availability between them.
We would not recommend using black cabs as they can be very pricey, especially at this time of year.
Public Transport
Transport for London, also known as TfL, is the integrated transport authority responsible for London's public transport system. It manages services like the London Underground (also known as the ‘tube’), buses, Docklands Light Railway, and London Overground, as well as major roads and schemes like the congestion charge.
You can help plan your journey using their website: tfl.gov.uk
You can use any of their services as a tourist with a contactless card. You also have the option to buy tickets or passes if you’d like, but contactless should suffice if you only need to travel in London for our wedding events and not much else.
Train
The closest train station to the venue is:
Wood Green station: This is a London Underground station (a ‘tube stop’) on the Piccadilly line (which is an underground line and one of the TfL network’s many train lines)
Bus
Numerous buses stop near this venue due to its location near a high street. Kindly use the TfL website to find the nearest and best bus service for you!
